THE HIKER’S RETREAT

On the Isle of Skye, we’re working with a client to design a two-bedroom retreat shaped by its rugged landscape and the rhythms of outdoor life.

The house takes cues from traditional Scottish forms, reimagined with a modern sensibility. A chimney-like shaft draws daylight down into the entrance, turning the everyday ritual of taking off muddy boots and jackets into a moment of arrival.

Inside, spaces open up towards wide views of Macleod’s Tables - balancing shelter with outlook, privacy with connection.

Designed with a timber prefabricated system and low-carbon materials, the retreat explores how contemporary design can sit lightly on the land while offering comfort, durability and delight.
